Children

When working with children, I use play therapy and creative techniques to support them to explore their feelings, express themselves and make sense of the world around them. Play is children’s natural form of communication and observing it can give me insights into their problems.

Younger children may find conventional talking therapies difficult as it may be hard to put their feelings into words. Using play and creative techniques can help them to make sense of their feelings and experiences in a paced and safe way. As an integrative therapist, I adapt my way of working to the needs of the child.

Play and creative therapy can provide children with emotional support and help them to better understand their thoughts and feelings. It can also support them to have increased confidence, improved self-esteem, reduce anxiety, improve social skills, develop better coping strategies and support them to heal from difficult experiences.

Adolescents

Adolescence is a time of great change and development in all areas of a person’s life. It is a time when we establish our identity as we transition into adult life. All of this change can cause it to be an unsettling and confusing time, when it can be hard to understand and make sense of your thoughts and feelings.

I offer a safe space for you to talk and explore your emotions and experiences. Sometimes talking may not feel the best way to express yourself, so it could be helpful to use drawing or art to support this. This can help you to gain insight and understanding about yourself. It can also be helpful to feel you have a space for you.

Things you might need support with:

Anxiety, low mood, bullying, friendship difficulties, low self-worth, low self-esteem, suicidal feelings and thoughts, self-harm, academic pressure, exam stress, parent separation, parental conflict, eating issues, sexual and gender identity, anger management, social anxiety, trauma, bereavement, and loss.

Parent Consultation

Being a parent can sometimes feel difficult, especially if you are aware that your child may be experiencing some problems. I offer a safe, supportive, and confidential space for you to talk about your child and your family.

As the child’s parent you are the expert and can offer valuable insights into the difficulties they may be experiencing. Having a parent consultation can give you an opportunity for you to ask me any questions about the process and decide if therapeutic support is right for your child.

My 15 years’ experience of working in schools and Children’s Services means I am also able to advise on gaining support in the education system to ensure your child’s needs are met.
